JULY 9, 2012 (LINCOLN, NEB.)—The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $119, 687 HOME funding to Central Nebraska Economic Development Inc. (CNED) to undertake an Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation (OOR) Program.
Four homeowners earning at or below 80 percent of the median area income and living in Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Hamilton, Holt, Howard, Keya Paha, Loup, Merrick, Rock, Sherman, Valley and Wheeler counties will be selected to receive OOR assistance. Services may include bringing homes up to electrical, safety, and construction codes; lead paint abatement; roofing, siding, windows, painting, heating, insulation, and some interior modeling.
Since 2006, CNED has rehabilitated 143 homes throughout central Nebraska via the CNED grant program, and county and community OOR grants administered by CNED. Currently there is a waiting list of 41 households in central Nebraska for OOR-related assistance.
